The Evangelist

Michael Ots writes: “I have been going to church since before I was born but became a Christian my self at about the age of seven. A teacher at our kids club at church simply explained how Jesus had died so that we could be forgiven and made friends with God. It seemed to make sense and so I prayed to trust in Jesus and commit my life to him. Nothing dramatic happened outwardly. In fact for several weeks I wasn’t sure anything happened at all. However, over time I began to realise that God had heard that prayer and I could be confident that I was right with God. That decision has changed my life ever since. It eventually took me to study theology in Edinburgh for three years before moving to Bournemouth to work as the Minister for Evangelism at Lansdowne Baptist Church.

“Since September 2008 I have been working as an evangelist, based in Bournemouth but traveling widely across the UK and also Europe. My job is to persuade people to become Christians – not the most politically correct concept I know. However, I am convinced that Christianity is not only true, but it is also amazingly good news. The most important decision a person will make is how they will respond to the fact of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

“Most of my time is spent in Universities around the UK and Europe. I am involved in training Christian students to share their faith and answer their friends questions and publicly presenting the gospel at ‘Mission Week’ events. I am also involved in the work of my local church as well as spearheading a partnership with a group of churches in Romania. ”
