Advertising Idea

Here’s a random but I think quite cool idea for advertising events. (Thanks to David Anthony for the idea!)  Many people who have Iphones or Android phones etc have a function on them that uses the camera to read barcodes. This will then locate the item on the web.

Basically you can make up barcodes to link with a web site. You can make them here http://qrcode.kaywa.com/

The idea would be to link the barcode with the web site advertising the details of the the event – e.g. a Mission Week.

Then put up posters in the weeks preceding the mission simply with the barcode and a caption saying ‘Scan Here’ and nothing else. People will  have to scan the barcode to get the info. Those that don’t have the function will no doubt be intrigued and ask what it’s all about!

Just a fun idea to supplement other more conventional means of advertising! Obviously you’d have to make sure the web site is up to date and the front page carries information about the mission.

Try this one…

I lack the technology but I like the idea.
